It all started in the 1930s with a small shoe and repair shop in Breil-sur-Roya in the hinterland of Nice.

Two decades later, Paul Sartore, the son, set up his own factory in 1959 with his wife Marcelle. Under the Sportsouple brand, it made its debut with a line of driving moccasins with white studded soles. Success smiles on the couple. Paul takes care of the creation. Marcelle from management.

A second Esquire brand is born at the same time as new premises. Under this name, a line of Blake-stitched men's moccasins of English or American inspiration and a boot style for women with riding boots and trotter boots were also developed.

Arrive in the 70s, the first stylized clogs, boots with single, double, triple or even quadruple pads which put the brand in tune with the times.

Always in search of the best leathers and patinas, the couple passed on to their daughters Catherine and Françoise the intuition of beautiful work and beautiful things.

Practiced since childhood in the culture of footwear, it was only natural that they joined the family company in 1978. While ready-to-wear was booming, the Breil-sur-Roya company was looking for its own style. . The Sartore brand is born. Symbol of another way of putting on shoes.

The 1980s were marked by western boots and ethically-inspired footwear.

The 90s were under the influence of Japanese designers who redesigned silhouettes and changed approaches. Sartore reinvents the shoes of childhood, these babies with thick soles and round toes by juggling with the masculine and the feminine.

At the end of the 1990s, the label was about to experience a new turning point in its history. The factory closes. The brand is now made in Italy in the best workshops.

During the 2000s, SARTORE created the unisex line...

In 2011, opening of a showcase boutique at number 3 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré.
